What is the EDGE?

Every day when we wake up we have a choice to depend entirely on God in our walk. Is God enough for YOU every day? This is what our main focus is in the EDGE ministry. We are a family of Christians from different cities, states, and countries. We are made up of single men and women as well as young married couples. Here you will meet people of all ages, ethnicities, professions and with different stories to tell, written by God. What we hope you will find here is a group of people who strive to live their lives according to the scriptures; people unafraid to admit their personal battles with the comfort and knowledge that EVERY DAY GOD IS ENOUGH.

What does it mean to be part of the EDGE?

It means I have a spiritual family that encourages me, convicts me, and loves me through my highs and lows. It’s a place that allows me to grow and mature in my spiritual walk and relationship with God. When I first came to the EDGE I saw a group of people who followed, trusted, and loved God genuinely. I saw how even with the struggles they had in their careers and relationships, they sought to make God enough. I desired to do the same because in my past I tried using other means to fill my heart but to no avail. I can thankfully say that with the help of this ministry at North River, I was able to make Jesus Lord of my life and today, no matter the circumstances, I strive to always live on the EDGE.

Living on the EDGE Downtown

For the past five years, there has been a small EDGE family group comprised of young professional disciples living and working in the downtown area. We have worked to make a difference and share the Gospel as well as our lives with our coworkers and friends. We began meeting in a monthly house church over a year ago, and the unity and growth we experienced as a result has been extremely encouraging! There are now two other EDGE groups downtown, and after many discussions and much prayer and counsel, we are pleased to begin meeting more often in our neighborhoods. Please pray for us as we plan and dream together for what God can do in the city!

The Big Canoe Retreat and Piedmont Park Service

In the thriving EDGE (singles and professional) ministry we have experienced a lot of “firsts” in this past week. It was our “first” time at the beautiful Big Canoe resort for our leaders retreat, and our “first” Piedmont Park service.
When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, and our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” — Psalm 126: 1-2
This Scripture goes right to the heart of this past weekend. Calling us to dream God’s dream and to depend on God to faithfully fulfill His glorious promises to us.

This past weekend at the leaders retreat, we were challenged and inspired to dream God’s dream for His kingdom and not ours; God is calling everyone to go “all in” for Him, which simply means to dethrone yourself and enthrone Him, surrender all of you to Him, recognizing that every second of every day and every ounce of energy is devoted to Him. To truly live, you have to dream of something bigger than yourself.

In the morning we shared stories, coffee, food, prayer and laughter on the veranda, which overlooks a beautiful lake, nestled within the mountains of Georgia. We enjoyed fellowship and singing and a heard a message on dreaming God’s dream.

In the afternoon we ate lunch together, danced together, and sang together. We discussed in groups how to prepare individual lessons from the book Eight Habits of Highly Effective Family Groups. The groups had the opportunity to share powerful principles from the Scriptures describing a dynamic healthy family group.

We ended our weekend with a Sunday service at Piedmont Park. We attracted a lot of guests, as our singing and laughter was heard throughout the park. Many were intrigued by such a diverse group as we celebrated communion together, played together, and enjoyed fellowship until the sun went down.

I want thank everyone who made this weekend so special. Especially, Lin who organized and planned the entire weekend at Big Canoe; and Mark, her loving husband, who tirelessly serves the EDGE ministry. They open their home and their hearts again and again and again.

To God be the glory.
