Volunteers from our HOPEww North River Chapter were out in full force at the Juneteenth Cultural Festival at Marietta Square (last Saturday, June 15)! Our volunteers passed out thousands of free books that were donated by Books for Africa. It was an amazing way to serve the community! We so appreciate our HOPEww North River chapter!
Alivia Raelyn Pettigrew (daughter of KJ and Michelle) was born 2:32 am on Saturday June 15, 2024 via an unplanned C-section 6 weeks before her due date. During an ultrasound on June 4th it was determined that Alivia's size was measuring 2 weeks behind. They increased Michelle to twice-a-week appointments to keep an eye on the development. On Friday the 14th's morning appointment, they noticed the baby's heart rate had a few decelerations. The baby's heart rate continued to be low, which was a concern to the doctors. They advised that we needed to get the baby out soon via C-section. At 2:32 am Alivia entered the world with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck, knotted in 2 places, and twisted up. It was clear that this was the reason for the baby's distress and lack of growth inside the womb. It is truly a miracle that she made it despite being literally choked and deprived of oxygen.
Both Michelle and Alivia are doing well. Alivia will be in NICU for a few weeks as she grows and meets all her goals. One of the biggest challenges for 34 week gestational babies is learning how to eat and breathe at the same time. So far Alivia has been eating more than the minimum almost every feeding and has not needed a feeding tube. Michelle is recovering as well. The past couple days have been hard as the drugs from the surgery wear off, but she is managing.
Thank you again for all the love, prayers, and support. - KJ Pettigrew
The Pettigrews will need our prayers and support in many ways. They did not get to have their baby shower yet, so click here for their Amazon baby gift registry
There is also a Meal Train that was set up for them. Click to access the Meal Train
We are having church in house churches on June 30th! We are encouraging everyone to make the most of smaller size gathering by meeting together by family group or by combining groups. There will be many House Church locations around the Metro Atlanta area on that day. If you're not sure where to attend, Click here to get more info.
We want to keep our kids in mind for House Church Sunday as well. Click here for info about engaging and taking care of kids during House Church.
