A message from the leadership regarding Mother’s Day Service

Dear Church Family,

We want to take a moment to share a heartfelt apology and clarification regarding the message shared during our Mother’s Day worship service.

As your leaders, we made a mistake in allowing a guest speaker to present a sermon focused on the topic of non-violence during such a meaningful and tender occasion. While we believe that this is an important topic for thoughtful discussion within the church, we recognize that Mother’s Day was not the appropriate time or venue for this message. Several felt hurt, offended and disappointed, and for that, we are truly sorry.

In addition, we recognize that parts of the message included statements that could be interpreted as political in nature. We want to be clear: our desire is for the stage to remain politically neutral, a place where the focus is always on our shared allegiance to King Jesus—above any party, ideology, or earthly nation. Our unity in Christ must come before any other identity, and we deeply regret any confusion or division this may have caused. It’s also important to clarify that neither the elders nor the evangelists necessarily agree with or endorse everything that was said during the sermon. Our intention was never to confuse, hurt, or distract from honoring the incredible women in our lives on Mother’s Day.

We are especially grateful for those of you who took the time to communicate with us after the sermon. Your willingness to share your thoughts and your love for this church family means more than we can say. We are listening, and we are learning.

As shepherds, we care deeply about this congregation. We are committed to humility, transparency, and shepherding with both courage and compassion. We are not perfect—we make mistakes—but we want to grow in how we lead and serve.

We continue to believe that difficult and meaningful topics should be discussed in the church—but with wisdom about when and how. A midweek class or a teaching series would have been far more fitting for these types of subjects.

Thank you for your grace, your prayers, and your trust. We love this church deeply and are honored to walk alongside you.

With love and humility,

The Elders and Evangelists
